María Arcos

María Arcos

She got a degree on contemporary dance and classic ballet from the Superior Dance Conservatory of Valencia, and a degree on Audiovisual Communication from the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona.

She rounded up her formation in Paris, Barcelona and Madrid taking courses on other specialties such as african dance, jazz, funky, Spanish dance, capoeira, hip-hop, latin rhythms, tango, etc., and on other artistic expressions such as acting and singing.

In the year 2000 she started working as a professional dancer with several dance and theatre companies: Laboratorio C, XsiAcaso, Dikatt, Iguana Producciones, La Máquina de Acapo. In 2007 she is included in Larumbe Danza, appearing since then in all of its active productions.

The influence of Julie Dossavi and Germaine Acognie, African coreographers, awakens her interest in African contemporary dance and, in 2003, after an intense trip to Senegal, she creates her solo De Viaje. This piece is focused on interculturality and it uses African contemporary dance and documentary images. In the year 2008 she creates an enlarged version for three dancers thanks to a coproduction with Larumbe Danza, a piece that was included in the 2008-09 school campaigns for the Caja Madrid Obra Social department.
